FAQs

The FreeStyle Libre 2 flash glucose monitoring system is indicated for measuring interstitial fluid glucose levels in people (age 2 and older) with or without diabetes mellitus, including pregnant women. The indication for children (age 2 - 12) is limited to those who are supervised by a caregiver at least 18 years old who is responsible for handling or assisting the child in using the FreeStyle Libre 2 system and for interpreting its readings. Health care professionals and consumers should be aware about the limitations of available scientific evidence for use of this device in any other groups of patients who require diabetes management. Always read the label and use as directed.

Your glucose readings from the FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus sensor are accurate. Data from a clinical trial showed 99.9% of all FreeStyle 2 Plus sensor readings fell within Zones A and B of a consensus error grid (a tool used to analyze clinical accuracy). Readings that fall within Zones A and B mean that there is little to no effect on the clinical outcome based on the action you take on that reading.2 Additionally, no confirmatory finger pricks10 required for treatment decisions even when glucose is low, falling or changing rapidly.

While the FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus sensor is the same size as the FreeStyle Libre sensor, the FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus sensor carton includes the updated logo (FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus). On the FreeStyle Libre 2 reader, you can also count the number of days your sensor has on the home screen. A 14-day countdown bar means you have the FreeStyle Libre sensor. A 15-day countdown bar means you have the FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus sensor.

The FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus sensor is water-resistant and can be worn while bathing, showering, or swimming up to 1 meter (3 ft) and no more than 30 minutes in water. Please note that Bluetooth performance may be impacted if using the system while underwater.

At this stage, FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus sensor is not able to connect to any Automated Insulin Delivery (AID) Systems in India. However, as with any new technology, Abbott is researching a wide variety of potential applications.
